2021.11.28 20:17 Famous-lastwords Failing remicade?

I've been paranoid about failing remicade for a while. I've been on it successfully for about 6 years, I get flare symptoms usually a week or 2 before my next infusion. However, my October dose didn't seem to do anything. I have been in a major flare for a month, all the typical symptoms. Like painful cramps, sore muscles, fatigue and blood in the stool. I let my gastrointestinal doctor know and she sent me for lab work, but I haven't heard from her yet. I just had my infusion yesterday and I'm going to give the medication some time to do its thing before I write it off completely. I wanted to hear some experiences from those of you who have failed remicade after being on it for a long time. What did your doctor do next?

2021.11.28 20:17 eric987235 A few questions about AMT

I’m having some trouble understanding how AMT is calculated. I need to add an AMT entry to my tax spreadsheet because I expect to exercise a large number of ISO’s in the next few years.
Can somebody please tell me if I’m missing anything in the following steps? I glossed over some details like foreign tax credits since that doesn't apply to me.
The steps as I understand them are:
1) Start with taxable income (AGI minus deduction)
2) Add back SALT if itemized, else add back standard deduction
3) Add AMT items (ISO, etc)
4) Subtract the AMT adjustment (this part phases out at high income). We now have AMTI
5) Now we have to deal with Long-term capital gains (LTCG)
6) Subtract LTCG from AMTI
7) Apply the 26/28 brackets to (6)
8) Then apply the long term brackets to LTCG
9) Add (6) and (7)
10) Now apply the 26/28 brackets to the value from (4) and take the SMALLER of this and (9); that gives us our AMT
My biggest question is about step (8). What do you use as "income" when calculating the long-term gains tax? For normal tax it’s just taxable income (AGI - deductions). If I’m reading the form right, you instead use AMTI here; this all starts on line 12 and that value appears to be (4) above. Is that right?
And a follow-up question. Who generally gets hit by AMT? Obviously people with a high AMT items (ISO's, etc) but who else? I would think before 2018 it could hit anyone with an extremely high SALT deduction but that's not really a thing anymore.
Thanks!

2021.11.28 20:17 slvbtc Adopting bitcoin could potentially increase your countries pre-pandemic tourist numbers by 400% adding billions in GDP as a way to assist economic recovery over the coming years.

Estimates state 2 billion people are unbanked and 6 billion in total are underbanked. Leaving only 1.5 billion people with access to full service bank accounts with access to international utility and internationally accepted bank cards.
This video shows Andreas Antonopoulos going into detail about this problem;
https://youtu.be/W-Y_F3PS4JE
The problem is not a lack of money it is a lack of identity documents, a lack of a recognised employer, a lack of immigration status, and even a lack of social status in many countries, if you don't look like you belong inside a bank the guards won't even let you inside the building. In most of the world banking is seen as an elitist luxury that many are shut out from and if they can get banking they can only get a single currency deposit account with a card that can only be used at local ATMs, these cards cannot even be used to purchase things online let alone overseas. These people have money to spend they just dont have that special card with visa written on the side that allows them to join the rest of the travelling world.
The problem is profound and obvious and cannot be solved by banks even if they try to offer centralised mobile money apps, because these don't interoperate and dont scale internationally. Bitcoin is the only way to solve this problem.
You cannot travel internationally paying with cash, hotels and airlines strictly require credit cards to start with, and who wants to hold all their holiday funds in cash in their suitcase. So this would suggest only 1.5 billion people on earth have the ability to travel internationally.
Given the global border closures now there are plenty of hard hit tourism based countries that desperately need to boost their tourism sector by encouraging visitors. Turning their economy towards accepting bitcoin as legal tender would essentially open up travel to those other 6 billion underbanked people around the world. Instead of trying to deal with getting a bank account to go on holiday they would need nothing more than a bitcoin wallet to allow them to enjoy a holiday.
Allowing bitcoin as legal tender increases a countries potential number of tourists by five times. That is a huge opportunity.
Take a country that had 100 million visitors in 2019 and now has 5 million. They want to return to that previous number but it will take many years. Allowing bitcoin as legal tender could potentially speed up this recovery tremendously. Instead of taking until 2025 to return to normal tourist levels they could be back to those levels by 2023.
Then there is the fact these 6 billion unbanked people are like an untapped resource that have always wanted to travel but can't because the headache of banks has always stood in their way. The first countries that offer them the ability to travel with nothing but a bitcoin wallet will benefit tremendously. We see this already with the boost in tourisim to El Salvador.
In summary: If you are a country that wants to boost tourism then turning your economy towards accepting bitcoin would increase your market of potential tourists by five times and tap a cohort of tourists that have always been deprived of international travel.

2021.11.28 20:17 et_cetera1 How many variants will it take for people to get the bigger picture?

No, I'm not talking about the anti vaxx anti maskers, those people are a different kind of stupid. Who I'm talking about is the government and the people who blindly believe it. The government keeps saying "after this variant we can go back to normal" but then more variants pop up, because it's a FUCKING VIRUS. Viruses MUTATE. There will always be more variants, so we have to make a decision, do we try to forever function in this flawed new "normal" or do we go back to the actual normal while doing what we can to protect OURSELVES rather than the whole world? The problem is that the government refuses to acknowledge the way viruses work and people blindly say "yup yup government said it'll be over after this one" when that's untrue and stupid. Also, to be completely clear on the subject to make sure people don't misconstrue what I'm trying to say, I'm not anti mask or anti vaxx, I believe both are good, although I'm not completely comfortable with them being mandated, but nonetheless I can be at least at peace with the mandates. My issue is people who don't understand what we are actually going through.

2021.11.28 20:17 ganja420boy Msi x470 gaming plus max/ryzen 3900x crashing

So I followed Rabid Mining's video and bought a x470 plus max motherboard with a ryzen 3900x with 2 G.Skill Flare X Series 16GB ram but running windows 10. In ryzen master I set just like his video said. When I run the miner it ends up shutting off the computer right around a 12 hour mark even on stock settings. Ryzen master shows temp right around 63c. If I run the computer at idle it stays on but once the mining starts the problem persist.
Any clue to what going on?

2021.11.28 20:17 dacookieman NYC Wow

Howdy, so I went to the saturday show off a recommendation from a friend in Florida(who is a big tipper fan) and I figured it would be a nice way to pad out my weekend and give some diversity to my Friday show of Disco Biscuits over in Montclaire. What I didn't expect was for Saturday to skyrocket to the top of my favorite shows period. I didn't really know any of the lineup or really Jade Cicada that well so I got there a little late and almost didn't get a pit band but bless the security lady who found one in her pocket and hooked me up. Within 30 minutes I was floored by the music and visuals(!!!) as well as the crowd being the best crowd I've been in in a LONG time. Seriously everyone was such good fucking energy and the dancing was great, everyone 'got it'. Not that I didn't have a good time at Biscuits on friday but I pretty much instantly regretted not revolving my entire weekend around this event(friday+afterparties).
My question is how is the scene for this subgenre in NYC in general? Any venues, events, artists(outside everyone who played this weekend who I am now avidly following) I should keep on my radar? I really loved the entire vibe and it felt very distinct from a lot of the other shows I've been going to but I am already ready for more! Thanks for reading and any advice you have for me :)
Also bit of a missed connections and I doubt any of them will see this but if Bill, Marisa, or Liam are here DM me! I was at the front the whole time and you'll know if I'm talking about you

2021.11.28 20:17 Smol_bean166 I just finished watching it like the 20th time.

This my sound really weird but I love this show so much. I started crying when I finished it. I’m so sad I can’t continue with them on their adventure and I’m wish they made more of the comics into an animated series or did an animated series from when they were older. I like LoK but I prefer ATLA. I love this show so much it hurts which is really weird. I just wanted to vent about it.

2021.11.28 20:17 Poliderekk The Happy Guitar by Kurt Cobain is the darkest "Nirvana" song

This song is literally titled the happy guitar, but everytime I listen to it I get that weird feeling, like the song is really dark inside but smiley outside, I don't really know how to explain it, Kurt wasn't the happiest person on earth and him making song called "The Happy Guitar" is weird, every damn time I listen to it i get those fake smile vibes, like someone's really sad but pretends he's not, can anyone relate?
